Holly got in touch with me at Christmas as she wanted to gift a photo shoot voucher to her mum, Ann, as a surprise. Ann booked her shoot for a lovely day in May with her gentle giant, Prophet. Prophet is a 29 year old, 17.3hh Clydesdale cross – he was enormous! He had the most fabulous temperament and was a complete love to photograph – which was no surprise having served 10 years in the mounted police.

When he retired from the police due to injury, Ann offered him a retirement home with her at Moorey Spot. 15 years later, he is still going strong and looks incredible! He now enjoys a quiet life of happy hacking with Ann, who absolutely adores him. Being a happy hacker, Ann told me how she misses out a lot on the ‘out and about’ photos people often get when competing – so she was very excited at the thought of having her own personal photo shoot to capture those precious memories they share together!

When I arrived on the yard, I instantly spotted Ann, she looked gorgeous in her summery attire with her long, straight hair – not the look of someone who had been doing much mucking out that morning! We started the shoot with some in hand photos, using the dark barn for some black background shots, before moving round and taking full advantage of all the gorgeous scenery on offer at Moorey Spot.

Prophet and Ann had a beautiful bond which shone through throughout the shoot and was a pleasure to photograph. Because he was so quiet, we had a lot of fun playing about with different poses and backdrops, before Ann hopped on board for some bareback photos! Holly had been so much help behind the scenes, setting up the photos and getting Prophets ears forwards, but I was keen to get some with her in front of the camera too. So Holly hopped on board and joined in for some mother and daughter photos with Prophet to round up the shoot!

Thank you ever so much for welcoming me to your yard – I had a lovely time meeting and getting to know you all. I hope you like your photos!!
