After a fun filled morning of shoots, my final shoot of the day was with the very stylish Nikki! Nikki met me just up the track from her yard at the Havannah Nature Reserve, and introduced me to her handsome boy, Flynn. Flynn is a rather striking 8 year old Irish Sports Horse who stands at 17.2hh! He has so much presence about him and a real kind eye. Nikki had contacted me, keen to capture some precious memories with Flynn, after having to make the tough decision to sell him.
Nikki told me how Flynn is her horse of a lifetime – he has so much talent and really loves his work. She told me how he has gorgeous floaty paces for the dressage, but just loves to jump! Nikki has been doing unaffiliated dressage and jumping with him in the 18 months she has owned him, aspiring to get out eventing with him. She believes he would be in his element on an event day and shine in all three disciplines, so is hoping to find someone for him with the same drive.
After checking out the client area and her friend, Vari’s, gallery after her shoot the week before, Nikki was all hyped up for her turn. She nipped off to the shops to kit herself out in a new outfit especially – with a bold pink top to contrast against Flynn’s dark coat. She looked ever so smart! She even had an up-doo for the start of the shoot, which she let out part way through to reveal her lovely long, tousled hair look.
We made our way through the nature reserve, picking out scenic spots as we went, and capturing a variety of photos at each stopping point. Towards the end of the shoot, Nikki hopped on board for some mounted shots to round things up. After our shoot, Nikki was off for a spot of show jumping to make the most of the time they have left together.
I hope your photos give you lots of happy memories of your golden boy to treasure for years to come. Thank you for trusting me with such an important task of capturing those for you.
