I made my way back to Mount Huly for my 5th shoot there to meet up with Karen and her ‘fur babies’ as she called them. Karen had a quick change of clothes on my arrival after spending the morning bathing her boys, Romeo and Spotty, then we made our way to the feed room to use the doorway to capture some black background images.
Karen told me how she’s owned 17 year old Spotty, her appaloosa, for the past 10 years, and together they have had a lot of fun competing BE. She has more recently purchased Romeo, who she’s owned now for 6 months. He is just young and finding his feet (or should I say hooves!) at the moment, but Karen is hoping he will follow in Spotty’s footsteps!
We then went for a walk down the track and into some of the crop fields to capture some group photos, individual photos, and some of her little whippet, Millie, playing. We had a very hot day for it but despite the flies and almost unbearable heat, both horses and Millie were extremely well behaved and happily joined in with anything we asked of them. Back on the yard, we rounded up the shoot with a few mounted shot when Karen hopped on board the lovely Spotty.
Thank you for inviting me back to Mount Huly – I always get such a warm welcome and love coming back to visit. I’m looking forward to my next trip back – see you all soon!!
