After receiving a voucher from Judith Brown, Katherine booked her shoot with the lovely Bijou at Church Farm on a sunny Wednesday afternoon in July. When I arrived, Bijou was gleaming and Katherine was looking far too clean and classy to be on a stable yard!
Katherine introduced me to Bijou, her 11 year old Welsh Cob, whom she has owned since she was 4 years old. Having started riding as an adult when her niece took to the saddle, Katherine was bitten by the bug and just HAD to have her own! She decided to pick out her yard first, and saw a stable advertised. When she went to view it, there was a horse for sale there, Bijou! And the rest was history!
With a clear idea of the photos she was after, and where she would like to go, we started the shoot in the barn doorway to capture some studio like black background images. We captured some headshot and artistic close ups of Bijou, before Katherine hopped in for some cuddly, bonding photos too!
Then we made our way out and about for some more natural backdrops. The bond the two of them shared was beautiful to see – they both wanted nothing more than a cuddle with one another! My job as photographer was made very easy. We rounded up the shoot with Katherine hopping on board for some mounted shots before heading back to the yard to give Bijou a well-earned rest and hay net!
It was such a pleasure having the two of you in front of the camera – I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Thanks again for having me.
