In the lead up to Keren’s shoot, her gorgeous mare Chance hadn’t been well, and Keren had been fearing the worst. Understandably it was a very worrying time for her, having owned Chance 20 years, she was very much part of the family and like a child to Keren. However, when I arrived at Keren’s place for our shoot, I was absolutely thrilled to see Chance looking so well and a very relieved looking Keren!
Both Chance and Keren gave me a lovely warm welcome and after a quick chat about what kind of photos we wanted to capture, we set about our shoot. We used the stable doorway for a handful of studio-like black background images, before making our way round the gorgeous scenery on offer.
Over the years Keren has done a lot of dressage with Chance, but more recently they have been having a lot of fun competing in Trec, even qualifying for the National Championships! When they aren’t competing, they spend a lot of time hacking – and they have the most beautiful spot on their doorstep for doing so!
Keren has a gorgeous wooded area, with logs, overhanging trees, little pathways and lots of pretty spots which we used as backdrops for our photos. We were spoilt for choice! Then after having a quick pitt stop at the stable for an outfit change, we rounded up the shoot with some in hand and mounted photos in the long grass down the lane. I could have stayed and photographed the two of them all evening, they were an absolute pleasure to have in front of the camera!
Thank you for inviting me to your beautiful home and trusting me to capture the precious bond the two of you share – I loved every second of it!
